Apprentice wins top performing student award
We are delighted to announce that Josh Bearby, Engineering Apprentice at IMH, has received The Jaap Kroese Scholarship Award.
The accolade is awarded by Hartlepool College of Further Education to students who have worked well academically and who are moving onto higher education comes with a monetary prize.
Josh joined the IMH team in May as an Engineering Apprentice at which time he was a second-year student at Hartlepool College of Further Education. Josh is continuing his education and started a HNC in Mechanical Engineering this September at Hartlepool College of Further Education.
Hartlepool College of Further Education awarded Josh the scholarship in recognition of his hard work, dedication and his succession onto a HNC.
Speaking of his accolade, Josh said: “I’m thrilled to have received this award, it came as a complete surprise. And I’m looking forward to topping up the bursary I get from IMH for tools with the money received from the award. I have put together a list of tools and plan to start by purchasing equipment I can use most confidently.
“I’m really happy that I chose to pursue an apprenticeship. It can be daunting going into the world of work but the team at IMH have been very supportive and friendly and are more than happy to share their extensive knowledge with me. I have already learnt so much and have benefited from a lot of hands-on experience.”
James Griffiths, Managing Director at IMH, added: “We’re all delighted with Josh’s achievement, it’s great to see that the college has recognised the effort he’s put into his apprenticeship.
“Josh is a great addition to our cohort of trainees, and this year we appointed our 28th apprentice as our apprentice programme marked its 28th year.”
