IMH Earns Spot as Regional Finalist for Developing Future Talent Award

We’re excited to announce that Industrial and Marine Hydraulics (IMH) has been named a regional finalist for the Developing Future Talent Award at the 2024 Make UK Manufacturing Awards. This esteemed recognition celebrates our ongoing commitment to cultivating the next generation of engineering talent and reinforcing our position as a leader in hydraulic engineering.

A Legacy of Talent Development

Since our inception in 1983, IMH has been dedicated to advancing hydraulic engineering through innovation and expertise. Our apprenticeship program, which began in 1995, has been crucial in addressing industry skills shortages and nurturing future leaders in the field.

This year, our dedication has been recognised with a nomination for an award that highlights our efforts in developing talent and enhancing industry standards.

Innovative Learning and Training

Our apprenticeship program has evolved significantly, reflecting our commitment to hands-on training and industry relevance. We collaborate closely with Hartlepool College of Further Education, where we sponsor their hydraulic and pneumatic training lab, ensuring our apprentices receive top-notch practical experience.

Currently, our apprentices are engaged in pivotal projects like the Boston Barrier Flood Defence System, gaining invaluable experience that prepares them for successful careers.

Impact and Future Goals

Our programme’s success is evidenced by the achievements of our apprentices. Since its inception, we have welcomed almost 30 apprentices, who are continuing to make significant contributions in the industry.

Our future plans include expanding our training capabilities supported by the development of a new state-of-the-art facility. This will further our mission to lead in hydraulic technology and foster continuous innovation.

A Message from Our Managing Director

James Griffiths, Managing Director of IMH, said: “Being named a regional finalist is a remarkable achievement for us. It underscores our commitment to nurturing talent and ensuring that our workforce is prepared for the challenges of tomorrow. We are incredibly proud of our apprentices and their growth, and this recognition is a testament to our collective dedication to excellence in engineering.”

Looking Forward

We extend our thanks to Make UK for this recognition and look forward to the awards ceremony. We’re honoured to be among the finalists and are excited about the future opportunities to further develop our talent and advance our industry.
